Innovation Networks has been running since 2002, helping raise innovation levels in the region's small and middle-sized businesses (SMEs).
In 2007 Advantage West Midlands and Aston University in Birmingham pioneered a project to encourage small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) to work with universities and higher education to develop innovative ways of working, thus making them more competitive.
In 2009 the University of Wolverhampton was chosen to lead a £24.3 million regional investment programme in Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTPs) involving all 12 of the regional Higher Education Institutes (HEIs).
